Heard from descendant of Mollie Hunter who provided the following: Before Lige, Mollie was married to Lewis Bell. Mollie and Lewis had several children, the two youngest being Pearlie and Orval. After Lewis died, Mollie married Lige DeRossett around 1911 and they had a son, Beecher, who was born in 1912. Pearlie and Orval never took their step-father's surname; they should have been listed as Bells in the 1920 Census. When Mollie died about 1920, Lige married Cora Bell Rush and they moved to another state, leaving 8 year old Beecher in Putnam County to fend for himself. Beecher never saw his father again; he had to stay wherever he could, some times with his half-siblings, Pearlie and Orval. When he grew older, he worked on farms to survive. Eventually, he was taken in by a Bohannon and was working on that man's farm when he met and married Lou Vada Sullivan in 1938. Beecher and Lou Vada enjoyed a long and happy marriage which produced five children. Beecher spelled his surname "Derossitt" and that's how his descendants do, too.
