Information on Luther Miller first husband of Mary Derossett.
Found while searching for information on Mary.
Newspaper: Springfield Advertiser, Greene County, Missouri. August 4, 1849
"FROM THE PLAINS
Dear Sir:
It may be of some interest to your readers to hear something of the moving caravans of the great American dessert and the progress of one company. We are now encamped Saturday May, 40 miles from Platte River, 475 miles from home. Have had fine health until a few days since, and but very little sickness now. There are only four men on the sick report. 1 case jaundice Alvin Jones Cedar County, 1 case case fever William Jones Dallas County, 1 case disease of the lungs Samuel Ferguson Texas County, 1 death last night at 11 o'clock of diarrhea was LUTHER MILLER of Polk County, buried today at 8 o'clock a.m."
I took the liberty of putting Luther's name in all caps otherwise this is just as written in the paper.
