Most of the Derouins who came from the mid west descended from the trappers woh emigrated there very early, first to Michigan
All come from Robert Drouin who was born in 1607 in France and one of his two sons, Etienne or Nicholas. (My line comes from Etienne, down to Joseph who resided in Hull Quebec in the last century. His son, my grandfather, came to Massachusetts in the 1890s
