Tankard is an Americanization of the French first name of Tancrede. It is a relatively rare first name. I found a Tancrede Desaulniers whose parents married in 1842 in St. Paul, Lavaltrie, Quebec. He married a German in the U. S. No name given for her. Email me at nckowal@optonline.net if you want further info.
