I have an old newspaper clipping of my grandmother's (date unknown) that mentions an Emund Deschenes of St. Albans, VT. It is a notice of his appointment/promotion as assistant to the president of the Canadian National Railway. It states he began as an office boy on the Central Vermont Railway.

If this is the same as your Edmund Deschenes, then we must be related and your Rose may be a sister of Alphonse Miville-Deschenes b. 1847 in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec, Canada.

Do we connect? I have the ancestry of Alphonse, but am lacking siblings, except a brother, Damase of Saint-Ambert, Quebec who was mentioned in Alphonse's obituary.
