Mary Esther Deshetres, born 11 May 1801 in Detroit, died 1 Mar 1885 in Detroit. Parents were Louis de Gonzague Deshetres and Marie Catherine Greffard. She married Stephen [Etienne] Blay [Blais] on 3 Nov 1819 in Detroit. Stepehen was born 1 Apr 1796 in Detroit and died in Dec 1850 in Macomb County, Michigan, parents were Francois Blay and Magdalene Lacaille.

Mary Esther and Stephen had a total of 12 children: Peter (b 30 Jan 1820), Adelaide (b 7 Sep 1821), Monique (b 2 Jul 1823), Anthony (b 12 Aug 1825), Magloire Michael ( b bef 24 Mar 1827), Clement (b 1829), David (b 1831), Emily (b 1832), Francis (b 1835), Josephine (b 1838), and twins Archange and Sarah (b 1843). All children were born in Macomb County, most or all at the L'Anse Creuse settlement, which is now St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Both the Blay (Blais) and Deshetres family lineage can be found in Father Christian Denissen's "Genealogy of the French Families of the Detroit River Region". There are some inaccuracies, but it is very informative. For more on the Deshetres family, you can also contact the French Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan:
I have written a series of articles on the Deshetres family in their journal, Michigan's Habitant Heritage.
