Below is information my sister-in-law received in 1998 from a contact I, unfortunately, do not have at present (my sister-in-law died in 2000).
Louis "Antoine" Deshetres b. 1710 (Montreal Records)
Born in the New England States. M-Oct 30, 1729 to Marie-Charlotte Chevalier dit Chesne (or) Deschesnes.
B-Aug 3, 1710 Montreal, Daughter of Jean-Baptiste Chevalier and Francoise Alavoine. (Windson-Detroit records sometime used DeHayes).
in a book Les Canadiens de Michigan published 1885, says that Antoine and Charlotte probably got married at Grosse Point and that he was from Fort St. Joseph indicating that he came directly there from New England.
(The information continues with the children.)
(My husband's ancestor was #6 )- Hyacinthe-Antoine b. 1744 Detroit (Detroit Records)
However, this records continues:
Antoine-Hyacinthe - B 1737 Bapt 1738 St. Joseph (Fort St. Joseph Records)
(the same person)?? not known
Note - In the French Forts Book P.104 the Deshretres Family have 3 sons in the book Les Canadiens de Michigan by T. Saint-Pierre, it also says that Antoine and Charlotte had 3 sons, published in 1885.
There is no information anywhere regarding marriage or death of Antoine-Hyacineth B 1737 at St. Joseph, which is strange, since we do have all the others.
Either he died young or is the same person as Hyacinthe-Antoine B 1744.
end of quote.
