Since I posted that message I still haven't found a single document that connects my g-grandfather, Alfred Deslauriers, to the family of J-Bte. Deslauriers and Euphrosine Isabelle. Many years ago I was told by a very distant relation that J-Bte. was from the Normandeau dit Deslauriers line. This relative also claimed that Alfred was a member of this line. Unfortunately, I've found evidence to the contrary.

In the past 18 months I discovered that my g-grandfather's full name was Alfred Octave Legault dit Deslauriers. He came from St-Eustache, Quebec. I found his baptism record and was able to trace his line back to the French immigrant Legault ancestor. I haven't found anything in the Quebec records that connects the Legault and the Normandeau lines. My conclusion is that J-Bte. Deslauriers and Alfred Deslauriers were not related.

So far, I've only identified one Canadian relative of Alfred's who settled in Kankakee County. That was his half-brother, Louis Wilfred Deslauriers, who married Adelina Benoit. They lived in Bourbonnais.

Good luck with your own research,
Dorothy des Lauriers
