I'm new at this research. I have been trying to locate something on my dad and his family prior to me since he passed away in 1992. His name was Jem DeSoto, b. December 8, 1908 in Port St Joseph, Florida, he died in January 11, 1992 at home. We were told that our grandparents were from Spain and France.
My gradfather was from Spain, his name was Juan DeSoto, my grandmother from France, she was Margaurite (Margarett) Cappell (Kappell). Not sure where they came into America or when. This is what our mother told us, because my dad wouldn't talk about it Both of them died abt. a year apart when my dad was abt. 6/7 yrs of age. I would no idea of what line he would be from, so any help would be appreciated. His life is only know to us from abt. 1924 to now. Thank you
