I don't know if this will help...but here it goes!
I am also searching for my DeSoto family roots. My great-great grandfather, Felix DeSoto, came over from Spain as a stowaway and somehow ended up in Louisiana. I don't even know who he married, but he did have a daughter named Maria DeSoto who married a Gervais Juneau from Marksville, La. No-one has ever been able to figure where he came from. It's like hitting a brick wall. If that helps or if you have any info that would help me I would really appreciate it.
