Thanks for the reference to the DeSpain family. The Matthews family mentioned in this article also connects to the Crisp/Erwin line of my husband who married with the DeSpain line.

I'm from Collin Co., TX and my Snider ggg-gparents started a church there in 1847 after their arrival from Greene Co., IL. I think it was probably an old Church of Christ, but is now a Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. I'm interested in the two denominations and their split. However, I'm a Southern Baptist with that being carried back to my g-grandfather who was a Southern Baptist pastor. I've tried to figure out what the Church of Christ is about since they seem to have some unusual (to me) views on religion.
