Hi Charles--

I think that I can extend your Desper line back a few more generations. James' Desper ancestry is as follows: Joseph H. Despeau (1808-1884)--Jesse Disper (1784-1838)--Edward Despeaux (1740-1822). As you can see, the spelling of the family name varied quite a bit, at least in official records, but even within the family to some extent. I will send you additional information as soon as I get a chance to gather and organize it a bit. Hope this helps.
