Detert Family (Germans to America)

Greetings! I stumbled across this forum, but no messages had been posted. So I guess I have the honor of being the first one!

I have some limited information of various Detert families who came from Eastern Germany to the US in the 1880's. Some settled in WI, others, MN, and others in CA.

My family concerns Ferdinand Detert (1843-1890)and his wife Ulrike Jaeger who came from Kreis Saatzig in Pommerania to settle in Martin Co., MN about 1882. This family had 5 sons (Fritz, Otto, Bernhard, Wilhelm and Albert)and these men produced large Lutheran families, most of their progeny have remained in the MN, WI, IA area, some went to MT.

I have recently become aware of another Detert Family Friedrich D Detert 1819- who married Caroline Schultz before 1855 in Saatzig, Pommerania, who raised their family near Dupont, WI. Their children were Herman, Karl, William and Fredericka. This family appears to have come to the US between 1877 and 1882. Not sure if this man could have been a close relation to Ferdinand or not, but likely. Perhaps Friedrich was Ferdinand's Uncle?

If there is any interest in these families, let's share information.
