I stumbled across your information while researching the Detert connection to my family. I am attaching the information I have regarding the parents and siblings of Herman Theodore Detert. I would appreciate any info you have, as I am a descendent of Dorothea Sophia Detert, Herman's sister.

Christian Wilhelm Detert was born in Hartensen (suburb of Winden) Germany. He married Frederika Louise (or Sophia) Breueggenean in Germany. In 1854-55, he came to America and settled in Franklin County, Missouri.

He died on a return visit to Winden after Frederika's death.


CHARLES FREDERICH DETERT,- born June 12,1830 in Germany. Died May 7, 1909 in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Ana Marguerite ______; two known offspring - William and Anna Catherine Detert. In his early life, Charles was a chairmaker; by age 50 he owned a dairy (somewhere near Union Blvd. and Natural Bridge Roads)in St. Louis.

DOROTHY (DOROTHEA) SOPHIA DETERT - born September 17, 1833, in Germany; married PETER SCHNEIDER on September 17, 1859 (her 26th birthday) in St. Louis, Missouri; died February 22, 1895 in St. Louis.

FREDERICK WILLIAM DETERT - usually signed his name William Frederick Born July 16, 1840 in Germany; he enlisted in the Civil War at St. Louis, Missouri, on May 23, 1861 (Company K, Third Regiment, Homeguard). He was never seen again.

HERMAN THEODORE DETERT - Born July 1,1843 in Germany; came to the United States in 1854; died in Fariboutt, Minnesota.

HENRY OTTO DETERT - Born July 30, 1846 in Germany; died November 25, 1915 in Louisville, Kentucky. He is buried in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
