Dear Susan, I am posting to check on a surname that might match one of your lists. The name is "DETTREY". I am Christopher Dettrey and I am searching my family history. I have been only able to go back to my great grandfather's name and that bis where I have deadlined. I was wondering if the name was changed from another name when they came over in a boat? My father's name is Frederick Joseph Dettrey and he married Dorthy Mae Pennebaker, and my grandfather's name is Frank Leray Dettrey and he married Helen Elisabeth Polomski, and my Great grandfather's name is James Dettrey and he married Catherine Caldwell. I would hope that this is enough information to help you find any related material. I was hoping to find perhaps different spellings if any of the Dettrey's.
I know that my mom's sdie has at least 14 different spellings starting from the 1600's up to today.
