Thank you so much for your reply. Verland L. Devan is the gentleman that I am assisting in finding his family. He is a friend of mine. He lives in Arkansas, and is currently 87 years of age. His Father was Thomas aka Samuel Thomas Devan. I found an obiturary on Thomas who was 54 and died in 1927. It reports he was born in Morris, ILL 8/1/1872. They had two sons, Earl Clifford and Verland LeRoy Devan. They were living in South Bend, IN at the time. It states Thomas was a painter and interior decorator.
According to Verland his Father, Thomas is buried in Highland Cemetery most likely in IN. His wife was Lillie or Lilly who was previously married to a John Nave. They had a child, May.
This is about all I have right now but have access to Mr. DeVan and he is very knowledgeable about his family but nothing prior to this. He is a WWII Vet who fought in the Battle of the Buldge.
