I believe they are one and the same family, I remember reading somewhere about the argument. But the name as I recall was de Ville I don't think just i and r would have been added. They are either two seperate families or the Devilliers added letters to their name. I am trying to make a connection with the families. The de Villes are found in the New Orleans Dioces Books and suddenly you do see a change in some of the de Villes to Coulon Devilliers and also DeVille Degoutin. If you have any information I would be glad to share with you.
