The social security death record has:

Afe Deville born 24 Nov 1912, died Jul 1974, ss# 436-01-4930, last residence Alexandria.

On a quick check I didn't find Afe or Roland in a census, but logic says they're there somewhere.

Assume a religion for Afe...hope he's Catholic, and check for baptism certificate from the Arch of Alex. Also write or visit the La Archives in Baton Rouge, state that you are grandson and ask for death certificate. It'll cost $5 or $10 It likely will have Afe's parents listed. They you're off and running.

Also go to a good library and look for the census index for 1930 and look for Afe. If you find him, likely his parents and sibligs will be listed on the microfilm. Then back up to 1920 and do same. Then look for his father in earlier census, etc. Teh search is endless.

Have fun.

Martin Gauthier
