Good morning Michelle,
I looked at the Old Ville Platte Cemetery Records compiled and edited by Ramona Smith & Kathleen Stagg and this is what I found on page 63: DeVille, Chick. b. 1917, d. 1968
I looked at the Social Security Death Index <FamilySearch.Org> - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints online - and did not find any individual named "Chick". I asked for a search for DeVille b. 1917 but
found none that had a death date of 1968.
I found one individual that I believe may be "Chick:
C. A. DeVille, b. Dec. 17, 1916, d. Jul. 15, 1968. No residence Zip Code was listed that would tell us
where he died. His SS#435-12-8588 was issued in LA in 1951.
I cannot tell you who his parents were, but suggest you write to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 708 E. Main St., Ville Platte, LA 70586. You may want to call ahead for fees:
If you know his parents'names, I may already have them in my database.
If Sacred Heart does not have his birth or death record, you may find it at the funeral home that handled his final arrangements. As a rule, parents' names are listed on the death record.
Write to Ardoin Funeral Home, 709 W. Main Street, Ville Platte, LA 70586. Call ahead for fees: 1-337-363-2181
I am a native of Ville Platte. When my parents died, I was able to purchase photocopies of their death records prepared by the funeral home. As I understand it, the funeral home is required to send a copy of death record to Medicare.
