Good morning again Ron,
Even using Southwest Louisiana Records, 41 volumes, beg. 1750 - ending 1909, by Rev. Donald J. Hébert, and cemetery records from Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Ville Platte, LA and cemetery records from The Old Ville Platte Cemetery, compiled by Ramona Smith and Kathleen Smith, I still get confused, because of the similarity of names.
SWLR, V. 13, p. 148:
NOTE: If Alexandre Deville (Sr.) was still alive on 8 June 1877 why would only Augustine's name be listed as a parent
on the birth record of Alexandre DeVille (Jr.)?
I have a feeling Alexander's Succ. may have been filed 10 Jan 1878 rather than 1877. This may be ordered from the St. Landry Parish Courthouse, Opelousas, LA.
From the Social Security Death Index at <FamilySearch.org>
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints online:
Dorothy Bradford's ancestor, Louis DeVille, b. 01 23 1895
(birth record not found in SWLR-where was he born?) d. 1965
his SS# ISS LA 434-34-8507. Res. code: CA - no Zip to tell us where he died. Dorothy writes, msg. #151, that Louis' father was Basile DeVille. Is this Basilien "Gray" DeVille
b. Abt. 1869 in St. Landry Parish? I did not find a birth record for Basile.
