I am tracing the DeVillier family that arrived in Canada about 1700; Nicolas Antonine Coulon De Villiers (de Jumonville.

One son was named Louis, but died of smallpox. Other sons emigrated into Louisiana, and one Jacques Philippe De Villiers became the first native born Governor of Louisiana (1816-1820)

I'd be interested to hear if there is any interralationship with your search.

Good luck.
