Janie,
My ggrandfather was a Deviney also. I found a W.Tuner Devinney,W. could stand for Walter. He is the son of Joseph Redding Devinney. W. Tuner was born 10-12-1869. His father was born in Tennessee and his mother in North Carolina. I have looked for a while and just ran into this information. Keep in touch and hope we get somewhere. My ggrandfather spoke very little English and was said to be of Dutch desendant.
