The Port Henry, NY/VT Devins family - 1830 on

My Grandfather was George Frederick Devins who was born in Port Henry, NY in 1872. His father was James Devins and his mother Ellen Lynch. James' father's name was John. James lived in Underhill, Vermont at one time.

George had several brothers and sisters who were also born in that area (Port Henry...Moriah...Mineville). Perhaps Margaret was a sister or cousin to John? If you would please send me your e-mail address, perhaps we could compare notes and find some anscesters. My nephew is also interested is family history. He has my notes at this time and I can send you more information when he gives them back to me.

I suspect that we'll eventually end up connecting this family to the Canadian family of Devins' in Ontario. Either Jacobus or Johannes...if they got Johannes from church that time they were all recorded in Latin...then his English name would have been John. The Canadian Devins family contains several family first names that appear frequently in my family.
