My gr-grandfather was Samuel Devol born 1844 in Ohio, married 1) Victoria Louise Sawyer 2) Alice Richmond, he died in 1911 in Kansas and is buried in the National Cemetery in Leavenworth Kansas. Sam and Victoria were married in 1861 in Ohio. I found them in Minneapolis on the 1885 census. We assumed that Victoria died as Sam and Alice had our grandmother Hannah Devol in 1893 in Wisconsin. This week I found Victoria and new husband John Trumbull living in 1900 in King County WA. In the household was a child named Annette D. b Nov 1885 in Minn. Second child was Helen born Mar 1891. John and Victoria were married in 1889
so Annette could not be John's it showed that Annette's father was born in Ohio. John was born in Scotland. Helen'c godchild confirmed to me that Annette was known as a de Vol. Her obit is in the New York paper showing that she died 06 Sept 1959. I justed wanted all the Devol's to know about Annette. I just wander if my grandmother knew that she had a half sister. Julia Annette married her step uncle Allan Trumball.
