Col. John Dewberry-Georgia/Texas
I am looking for any information on Col. John Dewberry (1794-1877) and his family. Here is what I have found.Served in the War of 1812 in Adam Heath's Georgia Drafted Militia.Stationed at Camp Jackson. Some believe he was from Chatham Co. Georgia.Moved to Texas around 1835.Settled in Smith County, Texas. Was married first to a lady named Mary Dewberry.Later Maried to Mariah Smith Dewberry.Very prosperous plantation owner in Texas.Died with no blood children and no sons to pass his name to.Many slaves took his name and passed it on.Let me know if anyone has any information on where he was from, who his parents, brothers, sisters, wife etc. were. Thanks.
