Hi Rhian ...great to hear from you. I haven't yet determined if we have a connection or not...however I have found your Robert Dewhurst (b.1814) in the 1881 census. He was living in Little Moor House in Clitheroe with his wife Margaret (likely Whittaker) as you say, daughter Alice Ann, Son Robert and daughter in law Kate and grandsons Cecil and Reginald. Perhaps you have this info. There was also a servant with the name Whittaker serving in the house.
There certainly is a possibility that Robert was a brother of my William (father of Sarah Ann Dewhurst) who married Joseph Cunliffe in Clitheroe. She was b. 1837.There is also a Thomas Dewhurst, b. Whalley in 1821 that could also be a relation as well as a Lawrence, b. 1825. I just haven't got them all connected yet.
Please let me know if you have more information.
I loook forward to hearing from you.

Sandi
