Hi Susan...am wondering if we might have a connection - at least some time ago. Dewhurst is a very common name in my husband's family. His great-grandmother was Sarah Anne Dewhurst, b. in Whalley, Lancs in 1836 or so, daughter of William and Alice Dewhurst of the same area. However at some point she moved to Clitheroe where she married Joseph Cunliffe in 1856. All of their family was born in Clitheroe and several carried Dewhurst as a middle name....the most prominent being Walter Dewhurst Cunliffe, born in 1869 in Clitheroe who after his marriage ran a grocery store on Market Square in Clitheroe. It is quite prominent in alot of old pictures of the town of Clitheroe.

I am still searching for more info on the Dewhursts so will stay in touch if I find anything that might connect.
Good luck with your family tree!
Sandi
