Dewhurst - Blackburn - Chorley, MA & NYC -Y-DNA too

Hello everyone,

I'd forgotten about GenForum and so have a lot of messages to look through here!

Our earliest DEWHURST family info is in the 1790s in Blackburn - James Kirkham DEWHURST moved to Chorley when he married Jane BROWN there in 1816. James K and wife Jane had a son Richard James in Chorley in 1817. He married in Scotland to Anne HENDERSON and they came to Lowell, MA. Anne died, Richard J remarried to Ellen Barry REGAN and they moved to NYC. The family has been in the NYC area since the 1860s. If you see connections, I'd be happy to share details.

I currently manage the boards at rootsweb for both DEWHURST and DEWHIRST. Jana Black manages the mailing list. We've teamed up to get the DEWHURST/DEWHIRST Y-DNA project started and have been extremely surprised and pleased to find that Jana's brother and my son are almost a perfect match at 37 markers - even though we've yet to find the actual connection... The one other participant that we have results for also matched exactly on 12 markers and is closer to Jana's line than to mine. Currently we're waiting for results from our latest participant - a man still living in England. We hope to have some of the lines living in other parts of the world join us. It would be fun to find that we are all one big happy family.
If you are interested. Here's the link to Jana's page.

Here too is Jana's page where we've tried to put up different family trees in an effort to connect the different lines:

My own bits and pieces page has an English section
