Hi David....apologies for the delay in responding as I have been away.
At the moment, I don't know Alice's maiden name....but think I can find it with a little more digging.
Re Joseph and Sarah Ann's marriage...I have a copy of the certificate from 1856 in Clitheroe. I found it quite readily on BMD and ordered it some years ago. That was the first source for William's name. Also a brother or uncle named Lawrence Dewhurst who was a witness at the wedding.
As mentioned previously, the Dewhurst name was carried down for several generations in my husband's family, so we are interested in learning more.
