I have some information on the Dewhursts. Edmund and Betsey would be my ggg grandparents.

Edmund listed his birthplace as England in the Mass State census of 1855. Betsey listed hers as NH.

Edmund was first married to Hannah born abt 1803(maiden name and marriage date unk) and they had one child, Elizabeth, born Apr 11 1830. Hannah died Jul 3, 1832. Elizabeth died Feb 27, 1849.

The children of Edmund and Betsey are:

Martha Jane Jul 31, 1847
Albert F Apr 4, 1839
Alice Maria Jan 18, 1844
Edmund R Dec 13, 1845
Ella Elsabeth May 24, 1849
Hannah Helen June 14, 1834
Henry Wm Mar 6, 1841
William Henry Harrison Mar 6, 1841
Mary Anner Nov 25, 1835

All the children were born in Amesbury, MA. Edmund was listed his occupation as Mill Operative.

The previous information was from the CD "Early Vital Records of Essex Co, Mass to about 1850"

Albert F. also served in the Civil War, the 40th NY Calvary. He mustered June 14, 1861 as Private Company B. He was 23 and a carriage maker. He died of disease in Alexandria VA, Aug 27, 1862.

Mary had two daughters out of wedlock, living with Betsey (according to the 1880 census) Betsey was widowed by then.

Hannah Helen Dewhurst married Thomas Webster in Amesbury Mass in 1858. Thomas and Hannah are my gg grandparents. Thomas, as well as some of the Dewhursts, were members of the militia roll of Amesbury during peaceful times. Thomas supposedly served in the Civil War in the Navy stationed in Conn.

In the marriage records of Edmund and Betsey, they list her hometown as Kingston.

I have found the Dewhursts in militia records and census, but right now, my research notes are not with me (my mother is reading them out of town). If you want more info about them, please let me know. What is your relation to Edmund and Betsey? Your information gave me some leads that I did not have before, Thank You!!

Email me if you need anymore info.

Janet
