From what I have gathered, Dew is French in origin, and therefore not related to the English-German name Dews/Duis. Dew perhaps came from D'eau, 'of the water.'

There is a "Dew" bulletin board in GenForum, which might provide some more information on people researching that name. Dew might also be related to Due.
