DEWS/CARTER in Davidson Co. TN 1800s

I've been researching the CARTER line of the DEWS family. My g-g-grandfather was PINKNEY DEWS. I know he had a daughter, VIRGINIA (Jennie) who married FELIX CARTER in 1868, in Davidson Co. TN. I also know they had several children, William C.(my grandfather), Corrine who married John Rutledge, John, Henry (who fought in the Rebel army), Molly, and Davidson.

I'd like to know who Pinkney's father was ( says it was Reuben), who he married, and if there are any other children. The records I have show he married Elizabeth T. Matthis in 1847. What I found on shows he was 26 years old in 1826 when his family moved to TN. This would make him 47 at the time of this marriage, rather old for a first marriage, which makes me think there may have been another (previous) marriage.

Any info anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
