I may not be able to help specifically, but my family has been in the Black Country around Birmingham, England, for over 300 years. There are also members of the family in Yorkshire - some of whom run a coach/transport company.

My own father was a teacher and hia father a self employed plumber. My family were Strict Baptists. The family name apparently originates from a Celtic word for Diue, meaning dark-skinned people - one branch of the family was supposed to have come to England with William the Conqueror and others moved to England from France during the Huguenot purges in the 17th Century.
