I have a little bit on this family...I have an Ellen Dickensheets, and a Mary Dickensheets, sisters, who both married William Michael Stites. A cousin of mine descends directly from Ellen and William.
I connect thru William great-great grandfather was Charles Lackey,a cousin of William's,and a Civil War soldier..I have all of his letters he wrote during the war...he refers to the Dickensheets as follows:
"I heard that Dave Dickensheetses wife was back to Goshen, Ohio and had another young one. It was born sometime last January but such will be the case sometimes. Father feels very bad about it. I don't think she need go out to Michigan for him to help her now after she has cut such a caper as that".

I'm not sure what it all means, but am sure its the same family! My Charles was born in 1837 in Clear Creek Twp,Warren Co OH, and lived in Ayersville, Defiance OH..his mother was Mary Stites, and his mother-in-law was Mary Ann Stites, mother of his wife Deborah St.John. His family also came from Turtle Creek.
