Tina,
I don't know what happened to him. If he was in the 1860 Census in Illinois, and then gone, and Harriett remarried and in Michigan in 1870. Perhaps he was in the Civil War and died. I'll check Illinois Civil War Rooster and see what I can find there. It fits in with Carol's letter that something happened in that decade. What !!!
