DICKER: place name of family name?

What comes first? The place name Dicker (Upper, Lower Dicker near Lewes and Hailsham, East Sussex, England)or the family name? As a writer from Holland I am very interested in any information leading to a conclusive answer. Does the place Dicker appear in the Domesday Book (1066-1086)for example??
