Hello, Laura. My name is Martin Baxter. I run a Dicker one-name study so I should have loads of information to pass on to you. My grandmother was Caroline Dicker - hence my interest. I have birth, death and marriage index entries from 1837 and many census entries starting in 1841. In fact there's so much, I'm not sure where to start. In addition, you may wish to do some of the research yourself rather than just learn it from me, but the choice is yours. Your great-grandfather, George Arthur (or Arthur George)Dicker was born in 1887. He married Violet Maud SHARPE in 1918 and he died in 1962. Violet died in 1982. Their children were Violet Lily (1918), Victor Edward (1921), John R. (1923) and Gerald Bernard (or Bernard Gerald)(1927). I have more on these folk, but I guess you are also interested in George's ancestors and this is where you may wish to make the decision to ask for all I have on this family or, as I said earlier, do your own research. I have 10 years' experience in family history, so I can also guide you if you need help in following up any leads (for example obtaining certificates or census information). You can contact me at my e-mail address which is martinbaxter@ic24.net. My one-name study is registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies (at the Society of Genealogists), number 2886. My address is 4 Pilgrims View, Greenhithe, Kent DA9 9QB. Please note that I make no charges whatsoever for supplying or researching 'Dicker' information - this is my all-absorbing hobby! I look forward to hearing from you some time. Good luck with your searches. Martin Baxter.
