Dear Mr. DeFord

My name is François Dicaire and I am a direct descendent of Laurent, the youngest son of Jean-Louis Dicaire (Dicker). I am pleased to report that the information conveyed by you and Michelle coincides almost completely with that which I had already gathered. For the benefit of anyone interested in the genealogy of the Dicaire family, I will post all the information which I possess. This information is in French. Should anyone require an English translation, I shall be happy to provide it. Please note that the English name from which my patronym seems to de derived is spelt "Dicker", and not "Decker" (incidentally the German word for "Thatcher"...)

Pierre LORRAIN et Marie MATOU m 29-07-1686 Montréal (ct 28 Cabazier).

MATOU, Marie (Philippe & Marguerite Doucinet).

I believe that I.J. is an abbreviation for Île Jésus, but this is to be taken with caution, as it still remains to be ascertained. I would welcome any letter at the e-mail address below, and especially from you, Mr. DeFord, as it appears that you and I are distant cousins, albeit several times removed...

François Dicaire
