Hello Rowland. I was most interested to read your message. I run a Dicker one-name study and I've come across this family several times, particularly via some Australian folk who are descended from your line. My particular interest is in gathering any Dicker-related family information that I can and in turn to disseminate it where possible. Perhaps we can exchange information. I have found your family in 1891, 1881 and 1871, but am puzzled why I can't trace them in earlier censuses. Do you have this information? Also, if you have a baptismal and marriage record for William Dicker (Alfred John's father), I would really like to have the information for my records. If you have any gaps that could be filled by GRO birth, death or marriage index entries, I would be pleased to search my database - I have them all (Dicker and Dickers) from 1837 to 1990. Please get in touch via e-mail if you wish, my address is All best wishes, Martin Baxter.
