Didier and Didierlaurent surnames
My own ancestors were the Didierlaurent family of Alsace-Lorraine, France. The family name seems to have originated during the 1600s in the town of LaBresse in old Lorraine province, Vosges Mountains, and then to have spread to nearby towns like Cornimont, then over into Alsace. My branch of the family wound up in Texas and is still centered there.
Questions:
1. I once heard that there were 3 unrelated Didier families in France.Does anyone know if this is true?
2. If there are separate, identifiable Didier lines in France, what is the central location for each line?
3. Does anyone know for sure what I assume to be true: that the Didierlaurent line was the result of a marriage between the Didier and Laurent families?(I note that LaBresse also has a Didierlemaire line--which I translate as 'Didier the Mayor.')
Any information will be appreciated.
