ILGEN (or ELGIN), DIECKMAN of Germany, Texas

I am looking for further information on Johann (John) Gottlieb Ilgen, who was born in Hesse-Darmstadt around 1830. He may have had a brother named Wilhelm (William) F., but I am not completely sure. There was a William Ilgen who was married to a woman named Barbara and they were somehow related, but at this point I am not quite sure how....

I believe he immigrated to the U.S. in the 1850s, but again I am not completely sure of this. Details on this individual have, so far, been sparse.

He married a lady by the name of Augusta Dieckmann who, I believe, was from Hannover. I am not sure when or where they were married but I am almost certain that the even took place here in the United States, possibly in Texas.

Their children were Mary Elgin Bonnot, Wilhelmina Elgin Rattiseau, Margarette Caroline Elgin Ready Falkenhagen, Karl Ludwig Peter (Louis) Elgin, Caroline Friedrike Elgin Bouno (or Bonno), Friedrich Georg (Fred) Elgin, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Elgin Schuld and Sophie Elgin Stewart Lockhardt. Most of these children, if not all of them, were born in Galveston, Texas.

Augusta Dieckmann Ilgen (wid.of John) died on June 19, 1898 in Galveston, Texas. Barbara E. Ilgen (wid. of William), who was buried from the residence of John and Augusta's daughter, Margarette Caroline Elgin Falkenhagen, died on April 15, 1898.

If anyone knows anything or has any information on any of these individuals, please get in touch.
