Philip Diehl, Born 1763, New York
Posted by: PHILIP SCAGLIONE (ID *****5643) Date: September 28, 2008 at 10:57:19
  of 1462

Trying to find information on Philip Diehl, born 5 Jan 1763 in Long Island, New York. He later ended up in Westmoreland County, PA via Northampton County, PA. He finally died in Clarion County, PA probably sometime between 1840-1850. He was the son of Philip Diel(Diehl; Dhiel) and Sophia______. Philip Diel was born 1710 in Horschbach, Zweibrucken, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany and emigrated to America in 1744. Philip Diehl who was born in 1763 in New York later signed his name as "Philip Deahl" on various records, such as deeds, etc. He is the right age to have served in the Revolutionary War, probably from Northampton County, PA but have no definite data on this. He was married to Susanna Kunkle(Kunkel), born 1775 in Philadelphia but was also later present in Northampton County, PA. Philip Diehl and Susanna Kunkle had at least eight and possibly eleven sons; I cannot verify any daughters born to them. Does anybody know the maiden name of Sophia______ or any additional details of this family in New York, Pennsylvania and Germany. Any help is appreciated and I am happy to share any information I have on this Diehl Family.
