CATHERINE WEIMER
Was born in Baden, Germany, in 1814, came to the United States
in September, 1833 and with her parents settled in Columbiana
county, Ohio. Here she was married to Peter Weimer in 1835 and
the same year emigrated to what is now Noble county, Indiana,
where the remainder of her useful life was passed. She passed
peacefully away April 12, 1893. Her husband died about
twenty-two years ago and his biography is among our records.
They were among the earliest settlers in Allen township, and the
place where they settled was very heavily timbered and it required
will and muscle to convert the forest into fruitful fields, but they
had both and the results of their labors are apparent today. They
were subjected to the toils and privations incident to the settlement
of such a country as this; but this is and oft-told tale and I will not
repeat it here. She was the mother of seven children of whom four
sons and one daughter are living. One of the sons gave his life for
the life his country.
