I am curious regarding your story of William being lost when leaving the ship. I am tracing my husband's family(diehm) and William was the name of his gggrandfather. I cannot seem to find any info on him, born prior to 1860 and appears to have resided in the NYcity area or Ridgewood and Flatbush areas of NY. Have I made a connection?
