William s/o John & Patience (Cole?) Deems died young and had no issue.

Henry Williams Deems s/o John & Patience (Cole?) Deems moved from MD to NYC, NY then to Westchester Co., NY where he is burried.

John Deems 1764-1822 was as far back as I have been able to go. As far back as this the name has always been DEEMS with a DEAMS thrown in along the way.

My grandmother Ethel (Nichols) [Deems] Bell said that the DEEMS came from Deemston, PA and the name was VANDEEMER, B U T I found that Deemston was founded by an Elmer R. Deems in the late 1800's where as my deems were in MD 1764.

There was a leter in the MD hist. or Gene Soc by a DEEMS that said the family name was DE HEEM.

Your guess is as good as mine. My grandfather was named Antonio Allegretti and yet on one receipt His name was spelled Tony Larrett. You tell me.

Best of luck with your search. I hope you will keep me posted if you find anything on Maryland DEEMS'

Dave
