All I know is that Louisa Diestelhorst (b 1841 Germany) came over in 1881 from Germany. Her husband (first name unknown) may have come over too but she was married to Herman Oehler on 20 July 1882 in Madison County, Illinois USA. They had a daughter Henrietta (born 1884).

Louisa had two children by Mr Diestelhorst - Esther born January 1868 and Karl/Carl born May 1877 (both in Germany)

Louisa lived in Jersey County, Illinois. From what I can gather her house was close to the Macoupin County, Illinois border with Jersey County and the family did business in Brighton, Illinois which is in Macoupin County.

I also know from just searching for the Diestelhorst surname that there was a group that settled in the state of Wisconsin (USA) but do not know how and if related to the Illinois group. There was also some Diestelhorst families who went into the state of Kansas (USA). Again I do not know if they are related to the Wisconsin or Illinois Diestelhorst families.

One of Karl Diestelhorst's grandchildren has placed a query on this forum. His name is Richard Diestelhorst. You may want to contact him and see what he knows about his Diestelhorst family in Germany. I only got interested in the Diestelhorst family since I knew several of Karl's grandchildren and some other families that they married into. For the most part Karl's grandchildren live in Bunker Hill, Macoupin County, Illinois (USA) area where I grew up. It's a small farming community of about 1700 population. So everybody tends to know everyone else around.

Sorry I can not be of more help to you. Good luck.
