I, too, am related to the Dieters in Ohio, although, my branch changed the spelling to Teter. Originally Johann Jorg Dieter (also have seen it Dieterick) came on the ship Molly to PA (9-30-1727)wife Maria Margarteha Luttman (Ludman). Records show he was born 6-7-1699 in Schweigern, Wurtenburg, Baden, Germany. Johan resided in several locations:PA, Yodkin Valley, NC Orange CO, VA, and Madison Co, VA. Thoughts are they came with a REv. Henckel (Henkle) and the 2 families offspring married. So, Henckel (Henkle) is another good resource. Johan had approx 10 children, and one Samuel Gibson Teter is my branch. Samuel lived in Pa, and then migrated to Ohio. One of his daughters, Mary Teter, m. John McDonald, and they are buried at the farm of John McDonald, Maryvill, Union Co., Ohio. I have many branches from Ross Co. and websites if you are interested.
