This information & documentation is familiar to me - as noted in another reply, James Monroe Dieter, son of James & Lena (Mack) is my gg grandfather. I have records showing James Monroe b 15 Sept. 1850 in Northampton Co. PA, d. 26 April 1929, Allentown PA. At the time of his death, he had resided in Clinton Co. Indiana for years, was visiting in PA. Also have records & documentation on many descendants thereafter.

My father, also from Clinton Co. Indiana, can recall as a child (late 1930s, early 1940s) visiting his cousins in PA, and them speaking English with such strong German accent that my father had difficulty understanding them. (As I understand it, German was the primary language of the home for them at that time.)

I would enjoy corresponding with you more on this as time permits ...
