Ruthie, Our family is now Teter, but there is speculation that the name was origially Dieter. Our family, too, comes from Schweigern, Wurttemberg, Germany. We have a Margrita Luffman married to George Teter. She was born 1 Jun 1701 and had 8 children: Johann Michael Teter b.18 Sept 1722, Maria Christina Teter, b. 25 Oct 1726, an un-named dau., Paul Teter b. between 1730-1735, Mary Barbara Teter, b. May 1734, George b 9 Mar 1739,Rosina Teter b ??, and Philip b abt 1733/1736.
We have no info on Johann's wife or family, but considering the names, palces and dates are so close to ours, I hope this info can help you. There is quite a bit of info in the Teter Forum that cross references Dieter.
