You may want to check some other spellings of the last name Dieter. I am trying to locate information on my grandfather's family. His name was Bernard Deters. Earlier records show the name spelled DATERS. My mother believes that the name was originally spelled DAETERS. My grandfather was married in Peoria, IL and was originally from Deiterich, IL.
